Strasbourg, 01/10/2003 (Agence Europe) - By adopting the report of Luis Berenguer Fuster by 464 votes for, 10 against, 30 abstentions, the European Parliament has supported the proposal for an administrative tribunal system for Community brands. The decision was taken in consultation procedure on the Commission proposal to amend the ruling on the Community brand in order to simplify procedures. This proposal will get rid of the research system, considered too costly. The EP considers that the appeals system proposed by the Commission is insufficient and proposes creating a body incorporating a chamber, namely and administrative tribunal with a president, which could in some cases function as an enlarge chamber.
