09/09/2003 (Agence Europe) - A train supporting supporters of Estonia's accession to the European Union was sabotaged last Sunday. Nails and metal bolts were put on the railway in different places near Haapsaluu in the west of the country. An investigation has begun. Estonian officials refuse to attribute this action to Euro-sceptics. A spokesperson for the Estonian mission to the European Union explained that, "No-one knows who's behind this attack". A few days away from the referendum for accession on 14 September, the situation is very close between the two "yes" and "no" sides, although polls are showing a clear "yes" victory at 70%.
