02/09/2003 (Agence Europe) - Belgian Prime Minister Guy Verhofstadt, when asked by Le Soir about proposals made at the CFSP summit of 29 April in Brussels, said that "slowly but surely, all the points that we have put forward have been taken up, including in the English text that has just been circulated" (a reference to the British three-page text distributed to Member States, see EUROPE of 28 August, p.2). "Even on the headquarters issue, we are happy with the British proposals", he said, noting: "I am all for the idea of creating a European cell within NATO HQ (over and above the Tervuren HQ for the Union's stand-alone operations), because this lead to the creation of the first-ever European pole within NATO, which does not currently exist".
