Brussels, 25/08/2003 (Agence Europe) - The Party of European Socialists presided by Robin Cook is organising from 11 to 14 September in Portoroz, in Slovenia, a "summer university" for the next generation of centre-left political leaders, a press release announces. Young people coming from the 25-member Europe will on this occasion discuss the EU's role in world security and the fight against terrorism, social, economic and environmental challenges to the European social model, the establishment of alliances with the anti-globalisation movement and "progressist democracies" in the United States, as well as ways to combat "voter apathy and mobilise young people to take part in next year's European elections", the press release states.
Former Danish Prime Minister Poul Nyrup Rasmussen and PES Vice-President Jan Marinus Wiersma, MEP, are to take part in the demonstration.
