Brussels, 22/08/2003 (Agence Europe) - Speaking on the radio, Swedish Foreign Minister Anna Lindh had harsh words for the Italian Presidency that she considers lacks the ability to bring the Intergovernmental Conference to a successful conclusion before the end of the year. "A government that is a little particular like that of President Berlusconi has neither the political sensitivity, nor the political contacts, nor the ability to seek broad political compromises that other European governments have", Ms Lindh said, cited by the DPA Agency. Ms Lindh also confirmed that the Swedish government in no way intends to present its official position on the draft constitutional treaty early September as the Italian Presidency requests, but rather mid-November. Ms Lindh specified that the Italian government has been clearly informed of this.
