SWITZERLAND gives critical opinion of proposal of directive aimed at improving security in road tunnels

Brussels, 22/08/2003 (Agence Europe) - Switzerland has forwarded its opinion on the proposal of directive aimed at improving safety in road tunnels to the European institutions (EUROPE of 17 January). The proposal, presented after the disasters in theMont Blanc, Tauern and Saint Gottard tunnels, aims to impose minimum harmonised safety requirements with regards infrastructure, exploitation, rules of circulation and signalling in road tunnels throughout Community territory.
