Cost of labour varies from one to thirty between candidate countries and Member States

Brussels, 19/08/2003 (Agence Europe) - The number of hours worked by employees in candidate countries is on average 4% higher than in EU Member States, i.e. 150 hours as opposed to 143, according to the latest statistics published by Eurostat on the cost of labour and working hours.

France is the Member State where the monthly duration of work is the lowest (134 hours) and most hours are worked in the United Kingdom (155). The average duration of work is the lowest in the extracting...
