Brussels, 25/07/2003 (Agence Europe) - A call for applications to advise the Commission on a strategy for dealing with accidents in the transport sector has been published in the Official Journal C172 on 22 July. This group will consist of twelve members selected by the European Commission for a mandate of two years subject to renewal. The Commission is responsible for ensuring a balance between the experts in the different modes of transport. Applications have to be sent by 15 September by the latest. The European Commission decided on 11 June to set up this experts group for advising on the best way to improve existing legislation and, possibly, to propose new initiatives, including transporting energy (oil and gas pipelines).
