Strasbourg, 21/05/2003 (Agence Europe) - Moldova has just taken over from Malta at the head of the Council of Europe. It will be occupying the rotating Presidency of the pro-European organisation, that brings together 45 Member States. Among the new Presidency's priorities, the Moldavian Foreign Affairs Minister, Nicolae Dudau, indicated, are: preparation of the 3rd Summit of the Council of Europe; consolidation of regional cooperation in Europe; organisation of a conference on "reoccurring conflicts in Europe: the aspect of democratic security and the Trasnistrie case; promotion of access for social rights, together with organising a seminar in Moldova; the adoption of the Declaration on Intercultural Dialogue and Conflict prevention in October 2003 in Croatia; development of intercultural dialogue between Europe and neighbouring areas, particularly the southern Mediterranean. The Moldavia Presidency will end at the close of the 113th Committee of Ministers session to be held on 5-6 November 2003 in Chisinau.
