Brussels, 20/05/2003 (Agence Europe) - The essential role of non-state players in the development process is the theme of the fifth regional seminar by ACP/EU economic and social circles, to be held on 21 to 23 May in Yaounde (Cameroon). The seminar is organised by the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC), in accordance with the functions attributed to it by the Cotonou Agreement to promote the development of organised civil society and the setting in place of dialogue structures. Participants will take stock of the participation by the organised civil society in implementation of the Cotonou Agreement and on the preparatory work for negotiation of future economic partnership agreements. The promotion of social dialogue and the role of women in development are also among the themes to be discussed at this meeting.
