20/05/2003 (Agence Europe) - The European institutions have condemned the recent attacks which shed blood on the streets of Casablanca and Jerusalem. The Greek Presidency pointed out in a communiqué that after the suicide attacks on Sunday in Jerusalem, "This leaves no doubt that terror is being used by extremists to block efforts towards renewed dialogue". CFSP High Representative, Javier Solana declared that, "Acts of terror as this should not undermine efforts to implement the Quartet's Roadmap". Mr Solana also condemned the terrorist attacks that hit Casablanca on Saturday, stressing that the fight against terrorism, "one of the elements of the Euro-Mediterranean partnership" and that the EU was ready to strengthen cooperation with its partners in this area. Romano Prodi noted that "this new wave of coordinated attacks is particularly worrying" and exhorted the public in Europe and Morocco to not interpret these attacks as "a conflict between cultures and religions". The President of the European Commission affirmed that Europe and Morocco had reached " a very advanced level of political dialogue" and it was necessary to enhance this dialogue on both sides of the Mediterranean for fighting against all kinds of terrorism.
