South African mining groups HARMONY GOLDMINING and AFRICAN RAINBOW MINERALS GOLD have merged, creating HARMONY which will be quoted on the stock exchange at around USD 2.7 and overall production of around 4.1 million ounces of gold each year, which will make it the fifth largest producer in the world. The two companies have announced that they have jointly acquired 34.5% of share in the ANGLO AMERICAN mining giant held by ANGLOVAAL MINING for 1.76 bn rand.
