29/04/2003 (Agence Europe) - Under present conditions, Cuba cannot adhere to the Cotonou Agreement linking the European Union with the ACP states, asserts the MEP Mario Mauro (EPP, Italian), member of the ACP/EU joint parliamentary assembly, in a press release. Writing to President Cox to plea in for the asylum seeker and exile of Cuban Oriel de Armas Peraza, the MEP recalls that the Pope wrote to Fidel Castro with regards to the wave of arrests and trials of Cuban opposition members.
