23/04/2003 (Agence Europe) - With a view to the forthcoming review of the European Directive on professional qualifications, MEP Luciano Caveri (Liberal Group, Italy) has presented a series of amendments concerning ski instructors and mountain guides, amendments agreed after several meetings with associations in this sector in Val d'Aosta (Mr Caveri being the elected representative of the Val d'Aosta Union). Mr Caveri mainly stresses the need to take into account the specific features of these professions, which require specific training especially in high mountain areas, according to the rules that must be respected by all Union countries, "which is not the case today".
