Brussels, 16/04/2003 (Agence Europe) - According to a "Eurobarometer" survey published on 16 April by the European Commission, almost one in four citizens (23%) use the Internet to obtain information about health. nevertheless, la situation varies considerably from one country to the next: In Denmark and the Netherlands, around 40% of people have access to Internet for health information, while in Greece, Spain, Portugal and France, this percentage does not go beyond 15%. Despite the relative success of the on-line information, the survey reveals that health professionals, such as doctors and pharmacists are by far the most important source of information on health and that traditional media, such as: television, newspapers, magazines - continue to outdo the Net. Another key element of the survey involves confidence over health matters and medical and health obtain the highest score (84%), while companies and political parties are bottom of the league (16% and 11% respectively).
