Berlin, 15/04/2003 (Agence Europe) - On Monday in Luxembourg, the Greek Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, Tassos Giannitsis confirmed that the European institutions would not be participating in the Defence Summit on 29 April with Belgium, France, Germany and Luxembourg (see EUROPE YESTERDAY P 5), the Greek Defence Minister, Yiannos Papantoniou was reinforcing the same view in Berlin following discussion with his German counterpart, Peter Struck. According to the Geek agency, ANA,, the Minister informed the press that Greece would not be participating in the summit, even as an observer and that it was waiting for the "result". At the same time, Papantoniou believed that the initiative "could give a boost to reinforcing European defence" and indicated that the Greek Presidency was following with great interest the initiative of the "Four" because "we are among some of the most energetic supporters" of a more effective European defence.
