10/04/2003 (Agence Europe) - In its approval of the report by Joachim Wuermeling (CDU), the European Parliament made sixteen amendments at first reading to the regulation on the establishment of a Europe enforcement order for uncontested claims. This order will allow a decision taken in a Member State of origin to be applied without the Member State of execution having to take a supplementary decision. The amendments aim largely at bringing greater legal clarity to the text. The EP is bringing in another modification, allowing parties involved in a legal case to appeal under national law against the issuing of enforcement orders, or the refusal to issue one- an option explicitly ruled out by the Commission.
