Declarations of support for elected Basque politicians and strong condemnation of ETA violence

Brussels, 10/04/2003 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday, a little over a month since the council elections in Spain, the Committee of the Regions adopted a resolution supporting local councillors elected in the Basque Country who are being threatened by ETA. Adopted with an almost unanimous vote (no votes against, 8 abstentions), the resolution strengthens the message launched by the Committee on Wednesday to organise hearing of local Basque politicians.
