04/04/2003 (Agence Europe) - On Friday morning in the plenary, the representative of the Luxembourg Parliament at the European Convention, Ben Fayot, admitted that the perspective of President Valéry Giscard d'Estaing going to Athens on 16 April to posed questions to Heads of State and Governments "troubled him a bit". He also asked whether "he would he be seeking responses to issues that the Convention is unable to give him?". Mr Fayot also stressed that the problems that Valéry Giscard d'Estaing was going to discuss on this occasion were institutional problems that the European Convention had not yet dealt with (Presidency of the European Council, European Commission, notably: Editor's note). This meeting should have taken place during the Spring Summit in Brussels but was cancelled because of developments in Iraq, Mr Dehaene pointed out and affirmed that VGE would certainly not be seeking "directives form the Council for the Convention". The former Belgian Prime Minister pointed out that he did not see how the President's seeking a clarification could be a problem.
