04/04/2003 (Agence Europe) - With the adoption of a resolution on the International Criminal Court, the ACP-EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly stresses that no agreement of immunity should allow a person accused of war crimes, crimes against humanity or genocide to go unpunished. It notes that the agreements proposed by the United States run counter to the Statute of Rome, and calls on the EU Council to do everything in its power to initiate open political dialogue with the government and the Congress of the United States in order to put an end to the pressure and to the threats of sanctions against countries that have ratified the statute of Rome, and to encourage the US Administration to adopt a cooperative attitude with regards the International Criminal Court.
