Edith Cresson charged with corruption by Belgian magistrate - proceedings initiated by Commission take their course

Brussels, 25/03/2003 (Agence Europe) - Edith Cresson has been charged by Belgian justice for counterfeiting and using false documents going back to the time when she was Education and Research Commissioner, between 1995 and 1999, AFP learnt on Tuesday from court sources. Ms Cresson was the subject of an investigation by Belgian magistrates in the context of a complaint filed early 1999 by Belgian MEP Nelly Maes.
