Foreign Affairs Committee opens way for approval of Accession Treaty by EP on 9 April, despite opposition linked to Iraq- outline of solution to budgetary row

Brussels, 19/03/2003 (Agence Europe) - As we announced yesterday (p.15), the European Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee approved by a large majority on Wednesday morning the report by its President, Elmar Brok (CDU), on the conclusion of the accession negotiations as decided at the Copenhagen Summit in December 2002, and ten individual reports giving a favourable opinion on accession of the ten first new Member States on 1 May 2004. The final vote in plenary is scheduled for 9 April....
