Brussels, 24/01/2003 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has authorised the American company, Eaton, which is active in a wide range of engineering and manufacturing businesses including automotive, fluid and hydraulic power, commercial and electrical controls, electrical distribution and aerospace, to acquire the electrical division of the British company, Delta. Eaton is also present in the low and medium voltage electrical sector through its trading division, Cutler-Hammer. The latter is one of the largest competitors in this sector in the USA, but has only limited activities in Europe. The Commission's review showed that the increase in market shares in the UK was minimal and that there was no risk that the transaction would enable the merged entity to gain a dominant position in Europe.
