Brussels, 09/01/2003 (Agence Europe) - The Land of Bremen is organising for 29 to 31 January, at the European Parliament in Brussels, at the initiative of MEP Karin Jöns (German Social Democrat), an exhibition on "car-sharing" as an element towards a European mobility policy. The slogan is: "Why buy a car if you just want to drive it?".
The exhibition will be preceded, on 28 January at the European Parliament, by a symposium of the Socialist Group, which will be chaired by MEP Joan de Dios Izquierdo Collado. Conclusions will be drawn by MEP Bernd Lange. Participants will include European Research Commissioner Philippe Busquin, MEP Brian Simpson, Bremen's Environment Senator Christine Wischer, the General Secretary of the International Union of Public Transport (IUPT) Hans Rat, and Coordinator for the Moses Project Michael Glotz-Richter.
The Moses project (which stands for "Mobility Service for Sustainable Development in Cities") is conducted with the IUPT and the partner towns of Bremen, London, Genoa, Turin, Palermo, Stockholm, Bucharest and the Walloon region. (Registration: http://www.moses-europe.org or Fax: 00 322 230 3658).
