09/01/2003 (Agence Europe) - The European Commissioner for Research, Philippe Busquin has reacted to the announced by the Raelian sect, which claimed to have cloned two babies. Mr Busquin confirmed his firm opposition to reproductive cloning, "Reproductive cloning must be condemned, not simply because of the obvious ethical implications but also because it involves a practice that is highly irresponsible from a scientific point of view".
