Brussels, 18/12/2002 (Agence Europe) - By adopting (according to Karin Alleweldt of the Workers Group in Germany) the implementation of "the social dialogue structured in the Pan-European corridors", the European Economic and Social Committee supports the notion of putting into place a better integrated transport policy in central and eastern European countries, as well as the need to rectify the lack of transparency and co-ordination in relations between socio-economic actors in these countries and the respective national administrations. One of the ways for achieving this consists in establishing a dialogue between the two groups that is more structured on the trans-European network. The Committee considers it essential to: increase transport safety; fair competition conditions; greater information transparency; improved consultation procedures and social dialogue; better Commission level co-ordination in action in the corridors.
