22/10/2002 (Agence Europe) - According to estimates published on 22 October by Eurostat, euro-zone trade with the rest of the world in August 2002 was a 9.6 billion euro surplus, compared to 5.5 billion in August 2001. The Statistical Office of the EC states, moreover, that the zone recorded a trade surplus of 66.9 billion euro for the first eight months of 2002 (19.7 billion in 2001).
