18/10/2002 (Agence Europe) - The World Trade Organisation (WTO) has endorsed the terms of Macedonia's accession, thus opening the way for the country's forthcoming integration. Macedonia has been waiting at the door of the multilateral body for nearly eight years now. After having received the go-ahead of the General WTO Council, Director General Supachaï Panichpakdi and Economy Minister Besnik Fetai formally closed the negotiation process begun in December 1994, by signing Macedonia's protocol of accession. Macedonia will become a full member a little more than one month after approval of the pact by its parliamentary assembly.
