Brussels, 17/10/2002 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday, in a press release, the European Commission stated it was preparing to assist Indonesia in its fight against terrorism after the attack in Bali. Current EU assistance to Indonesia, which places emphasis on good governance in Indonesia, could be made available to support these efforts, and the EU could also help Djakarta to face up to the problems of money laundering and funding of terrorism, states the press release. If the Indonesian government agrees, the Commission would also be willing to finance, through the Rapid Reaction Mechanism, a team of experts who could give urgent advice on what might most effectively be done.
