Paris, 23/09/2002 (Agence Europe) - Mouvement Européen-France, headed by Anne-Marie Idrac, is organising a debate in Paris on 12 October between civil society and Members of the European Convention, under the slogan "Elargissement, mondialisation, démocratie - Besoins d'Europe". Convention Members who will be attending include Pervenche Berès, Alain Lamassoure, Olivier Duhamel and William Abitbol (MEPs), Pierre Moscovici (French government representative), Michel Barnier (representing the European Commission), Pierre Lequiller and Hubert Haenel (representing the French National Assembly and the French Senate). The debate will take the form of round tables on Economic and Monetary Union at the service of a plan for society; Europe in the world; the area of freedom, security and justice; effective European institutions for democracy and citizenship; and the Convention and citizen expectations.
