Brussels, 20/09/2002 (Agence Europe) - In Brussels on Thursday, the European People's Party adopted a series of amendments to the project "Constitution for a strong Europe" (Martens-Schauble project: see EUROPE / Documents No. 2246 of 14 December 2001) on which the EPP Congress has to decide in Estoril on 18 October. We shall return to this text, that is not final, and which, in the version to be submitted to the Congress, comprises, in particular, two important modifications, which are: abolition of the reference to a "federation of nation States" and an EU Council concentrating on a role of shared co-legislator with the European Parliament.
