09/09/2002 (Agence Europe) - A delegation of the EU has been in Burma since Sunday to meet, during a three-day visit, the officials of the military junta in power and those of the main opposition movement, the National League for Democracy under Aung San Suu Kyi. The aim of the mission, the third of an EU delegation since 1999, is to step up pressure so that the government will be convinced it should dialogue with the opposition and release political detainees.
