Luxembourg, 02/09/2002 (Agence Europe) - According to Eurostat, the number of credit institutions in the EU continued to decline between 1997-2000, falling from 9,178 to 7,620. While the sector experienced an intense concentration process, employment remained stable during the second half of the decade.
