ECONOMIC INTERPENETRATION / (eu) steel

Dutch steel group CORUS and Brazil's CSN - COMPANHIA SIDERURGICA NACIONAL are to merge by the beginning of 2003 to form the world's fifth biggest steel-making giant. Under the provisional agreement, CORUS shareholders will own 62.4% of the merger, with CSN's shareholders owning the remaining 37.6%.
