ECONOMIC INTERPENETRATION / (eu) electronics

INSTINET, electronic stock trading subsidiary of the British REUTERS, is to buy its American rival ISLAND for $508 million in shares. Under the terms of the agreement, REUTERS' share in INSTINET will fall from 83% to 62%, whereas ISLAND's shareholders will have a 25% stake in INSTINET.
