11/06/2002 (Agence Europe) - There must no longer be sittings in Strasbourg because of the cost, problems of democratic control and also of health (traces of legionella, legionnaires' disease, in the building: see yesterday's EUROPE, p.9), said Lousewies van der Laan, Kathalijne Buitenweg, Michiel van Hulten and Pia-Noora Kauppi, members of the "Campaign for Reform of the European Parliament". They explained the request made by 100 MEPs, rejected by plenary on Monday, to postpone votes of the session in progress, recalling that they are in favour of bringing sittings in Strasbourg in 2003 to an end on Thursday evening, without sittings on Friday.
