Parliament approves new regime for aid to coal industry

Brussels, 04/06/2002 (Agence Europe) - With the adoption of the report by Hervé Novelli (EPP, France), the European Parliament approved the proposal of regulation concerning State aid to the coal industry. The regime, which is to replace the regulation founded on the ECSC Treaty that expires 23 July 2002, includes aid to resource security, aid to the reduction of activities and aid to covering exceptional charges. The regime that expires on 31 December 2010 will be phased out over time....
