31/05/2002 (Agence Europe) - On Friday, the European Commission "welcomed" the recommendations made by the Turkish National Security Council on lifting the state of emergency in two provinces in the country's south east, on the abolition of the death penalty and on the broadcast of audio-visual programmes "in a language other than Turkish".
