31/05/2002 (Agence Europe) - The Council has only prolonged the mandate of the High Representative of the European Union to Afghanistan to 30 June. Deputy Secretary for Political Affairs at NATO until September, of German nationality, Klaus Kaiber was appointed to his post by the General Affairs Council on 10 December. He himself asked for his mission not to be extended beyond 30 June, a Council press release stipulates.
