Scientific Committee recommends legislation on removing vertebral column should not be relaxed, except for cattle born after 2001

Brussels, 23/05/2002 (Agence Europe) - The EU's Scientific Steering Committee (SSC) has recommended that the European Commission should not propose Member States relax Community legislation on removing the vertebral column of bovines from the food chain ("T-bone") if it is a matter of animals born before the ban on meat and bone meal in January 2001.
