10/05/2002 (Agence Europe) - In a stance taken on the mid-term revision of agricultural decisions of Agenda 2000, scheduled for June, the Confederation of the food and Drink Industries of the EU (CIAA) takes a stance in favour of "unlinking support to production". Furthermore, in its view, "if the role of the second pillar (of CAP, rural development) is to be strengthened, mainly because of pressure that is likely to be put on direct aid of the "blue box" during WTO negotiations, this guideline should not have the effect of bringing the effectiveness of the productive function and the industry's supply needs into question".
