Nassauer and von Wogau fear suggestions Commission may make in its 22 May document

Brussels, 08/05/2002 (Agence Europe) - In a press release, the CDU members of the EP, Harmut Nassauer and Karl von Wogau strongly oppose the "request" made by the Commissioner for the Economy and Finance, Pedro Solbes by which in future "Commission documents" (on the budgetary policies of Member States) could only be rejected through unanimity". This would mean in practical terms that Commission recommendation "could never be overturned and would have to be directly implemented by Member...
