Commission unveils series of decisions

Brussels, 07/05/2002 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has authorised the following deals:

QuinetiQ - the public-private partnership whereby the former Defence Evaluation and Research Agency (DERA) will operate does not constitute state aid.

Saarbergwerke/Preussag Anthrazit/RAG - a merger of these companies, noting in a separate decision that the deal did not involve state aid.

BahnTrans - aid for German freight company.

Seafarers - German aid to cut costs of training seafarers

Transport - Italian aid for transport investment

Passenger transport - Portuguese aid for regular passenger transport.

The Commission refused to authorise Italian aid to cut energy costs for farming in Sardinia. EUROPE will return to these decisions.
