15/04/2002 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday at its emergency debate, the European Parliament adopted a resolution on the torrential rains that hit Tenerife on 31 March. The European Parliament has called on the Commission to establish contacts with the Canary Island authorities and Spanish State in order to put forward aid proposals to deal with the damages to infrastructure on the island. It also insisted on the need for an effective co-ordination of civil protection services in the EU.
