European students' forum activities

Brussels, 12/04/2002 (Agence Europe) - The European Students' Forum (AEGEE), sponsored by Eric Froment the President of the European University Association, published its annual report, "Key to Europe". An introduction to the book is written by Romano Prodi, President of the European Commission. The AEGEE-Europe welcomes the decisions and commitments made at Barcelona on education and stresses that it will actively participate in the debate on the future of Europe through its EURECA project - the European campaign on education, which provides an assessment of the current situation in Europe and presents the viewpoints of students on European programmes on the subject.

Part of EURECA's activities included a conference on 11 April at Cluj-Napoca (Romania) on the theme of, "Atmosphere in Europe: Enlargement". The current situation of European mobility offered by the educational programmes such as: Socrates, Youth, Tempus, Leonardo was at the centre of the debates. An initial EURECA conference was held in Enschede in the Netherlands on the theme of "European Integration of Higher Education", with the participation of 150 students from 18 European countries. Other activities in the pipeline include: 1) 17-19 May in Krakow (Poland): conference on "Towards a Higher Education Market in Europe"; 2) 23-26 May in Barcelona: conference on "The Responsibilities of the Universities: Bringing up Europeans".
