Brussels, 11/04/2002 (Agence Europe) - On Tuesday, the European Commission authorised proposed aid by Germany amounting to € 219 million in favour of Infineon Technologies SC 300 GmbH & Co. KG, Dresden (Germany). The aid level of the overall investment remains within the maximum allowable for the project. The beneficiary is a subsidiary of Infineon Technologies, München active in the semiconductor market. The project comprises the construction of a new plant producing DRAMs (Dynamic Random Access Memory - semiconductors that store binary data) with a storage capability of 512 megabit and beyond. The total aid intensity is 19.8% based on the eligible investment costs of € 1106 million. The project will lead to the creation and safeguard of 1700 direct jobs.
