Brussels, 10/04/2002 (Agence Europe) - The President of the Court of Justice of the European Communities, Gil Carlos Rodriguez Iglesias made a visit to Rome from 4 to 6 April, accompanied by a delegation from the Court, at an invitation from the Italian Constitutional Court.
A press release from the Court of Justice specifies that the "study meeting" covered the subject of mutual relations, with special attention being paid to fundamental rights. A first sitting was on the relationship between the Community legal order and the internal legal order, and the comparison between the case law of Community jurisdiction and that of the Italian Constitutional Court, with a second sitting on the fundamental rights in the Community legal order and in the internal order.
The delegation headed by Mr Rodriguez Iglesias was received by the President of the Italian Republic, Carlo Azeglio Ciampi, and met numerous personalities from the "supreme judicial bodies", states the press release, recalling that the Court of Justice each year receives, in Luxembourg, the "representatives of the Italian supreme judicial bodies" and regularly organises seminars attended by 22 Italian magistrates, with colleagues and all Member States.
