Brussels, 08/04/2002 (Agence Europe) - At the 10 April meeting in Madrid with US Secretary of State Colin Powell, the European Union Troika will not only be discussing the crisis in the Middle East (see separate article), but will also be preparing for the EU/US Summit in Washington on 2 May, between the President of the EU Council of Ministers, Jose Maria Aznar, the President of the European Commission, Romano Prodi, and the President of the United States, George W. Bush.
A Spanish Presidency press release reveals that at the Madrid meeting, the President of the Council, Josep Pique, the High Representative for CFSP and Secretary General of the Council of the EU, Javier Solana, and the European External Relations Commissioner Chris Patten will raise the war on terrorism, developments in Afghanistan and the Balkans, the European Common Security and Defence Policy (CFDP) and relations with Latin America.
