Brussels, 14/03/2002 (Agence Europe) - On the initiative of the Transnational Radical Party (TRP), a demonstration was organised in front of Poul Nielsen's Cabinet to "protest against the absence of Mr Nielson in a tragedy that had already seen 200,000 deaths and 400,000 refugees in the space of a few years". The TRP has described the attitude of the Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs as "indecent" and a "symptom of the general approach adopted by the EU in the face of the criminal policy pursued by Russia in Chechnya, which reflects the desire of the EU not to compromise relations with Russia". The Radicals have asked the European Parliament to take initiatives that are in keeping with its official position, namely that the Russian-Chechnya conflict should be resolved through political negotiations.
