Plenary session agenda for 13-14 March

Brussels, 12/03/2002 (Agence Europe) - Neil Kinnock, Vice President of the European Commission and in charge of administrative reform, together with Juan José Lucas Gimenez, representative of the Spanish Presidency, are invited to the plenary session of the Committee of the Regions on Wednesday 13 and Thursday 14 March in Brussels. Following the Constitutive session in February, this will constitute the first working session for the new members of the committee (EUROPE 9 February page 16 and 25 January page 17). They will decide on the following:

- The White Paper on European governance (Delebarre; France, PES) - the demarcation of competencies between the EU and Member States (Chabert; Belgium, EPP and Dammeyer; Germany, PES) - the promotion of inter-regional co-operation in an enlarged Europe (Rombouts; Netherlands, EPP and Kauppinen; Finland, ELDR) - island regions of the EU in the face of enlargement (Paléologos; Greece, PES) - strengthening of the local dimension of the European strategy for Employment (Sexton; Ireland, ELDR) - partnerships between local and regional organisations and social economic organisations (Verkerk; Netherlands, ELDR) - the White Paper on European Transport Policy up to 2010 (Barker; Britain, PES) - Work Programme of the European Commission (report by President of the political groups) - Green Paper on company social responsibilities (Hannify report, Ireland, PES) - Communication on social inclusion (Hanham, United Kingdom, EPP), Communication on legal aspects of cinema films and other properties (Beskow, Sweden, PES) - Draft Directive on the Freedom of Movement or Residency in Member States (Pella, Italy, PES) - Proposal for a Directive on the Conditions of Entry and Work for non-EU Citizens (Pella) - Draft regulation on Common Vocabulary on Public Markets (Sergersten-Larsson, Sweden, EPP) - conclusion of Kyoto Protocol, European Programme on Climate Change and a Draft Directive on Rights for Gas Emission Exchange due to Global Warming in the EU (Rahkonen, Finland, PES) - Airport Noise (Van Gelder, Netherlands, EPP).
